Recruiting Board and Council Members

Recruiting people to serve in leadership positions too often involves persistent badgering until people, who may not have the needed skill set, eventually give in and agree to serve.

It does not have to be that way. Recruiting Board members is no different than seeking any other gift. With all the steps and the whole process, the one most often overlooked key is inspiration. Give people a reason to say, β€œYes.” Give them a reason to give their time, add another something to their calendar. Simply filling a seat on a board has never inspired anyone.

Your organization serves an important purpose in your community. If not, there is no need to exist. Inviting people who care about that purpose to be part of the leadership is a joy and privilege.
